Namibia Day 9: Travel Day

Cloud formation at sunset

Day 9 was a travel day. We were traveling from Swakopmund to Twyfelfontein where we were to spend two nights. The scenery leaving Swakopmund was overcast as the fog that had rolled in two days before had stuck around.

If I get a chance to return to Namibia I'd like to spend more time in Swakopmund. I loved the desert there and I would've loved to have spent a day in Walvis Bay. Maybe next time.

There was a lot of beautiful scenery on the way to Twyfelfontein. The Brandburg mountain was pretty cool - unfortunately the light wasn't great for most of our travel so I didn't take a lot of photographs.

Twyfelfontein Country Lodge has a beautiful deck and restaurant area overlooking the valley that they are nestled into. But it was by far the hottest place we visited during our trip. It was 97 degrees in the shade, and the rooms do not have AC. The rooms also manage to retain the heat after dark, so even though the air cooled off substantially once the sun went down, the rooms were still hot.

The sunset was gorgeous. I enjoyed photographing it, and listening to what I assume were the barking geckos. They sounded like they were laughing - which was quite amusing. But then I'm easily entertained by the idea of geckos laughing at me!

Here's some more photographs of the sunset at Twyfelfontein.
