Fall Colors in Ely, MN

I was finally able to make it to Ely, MN for fall colors. We arrived just as the colors were beginning to peak. The whole area was gorgeous. We went on a couple of different hikes to explore and photograph.

The last morning we headed to a "bog", that I'd found the night before, to photograph the sunrise. Very shortly after we arrived we were surprised by a beaver. Turns out that we weren't at a bog, we were at a beaver dam.

Once it was light enough we found both the dam, and the lodge. We stayed for over an hour, and saw the beaver twice. I was able to create a couple of photographs that included both the dam and fall colors lit up by the sunrise.
